Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus 2018 Review
Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus (2018) is the bigger and upgraded variant of the Galaxy A6 (2018) we reviewed earlier. It sports a much bigger 6-inch Super AMOLED screen, which is perfect for big screen lovers.
Apart from its massive bezel-less display, it boasts of the trending dual rear shooter as seen on the Galaxy S9 Plus. Internally, it has the same 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. However, the Plus version has a faster processor and bigger battery capacity.
Design
The A6 Plus sports the same curvy and sleek dual antenna lines as seen on its little sibling. However, the dual rear shooter here is the highlight of the rear, sitting on the foundation at the top middle with the fingerprint scanner underneath.
The LED flash is beside the dual shooters and ready to take over the night, while the Samsung logo is in its usual position. Because of the bigger battery capacity, it measures 7.9mm in thickness. In terms of colors, it’s available in Black, Gold, Blue and Lavender colors.
Display
Samsung is officially letting go of the home button at the bottom bezel, as the the A6 (2018) ships with the trending bezel-less display. The bezel-less display stretches from side to side, while the selfie camera, speaker grille, sensor and LED flash sits at the top.
There’s a bigger 6-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen here for big screen lovers. Boasting of 1080 x 2220 pixels in resolution and 411 pixel per inch density. The screen dishes out an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and stretches up 75.3% screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 450 chip from Qualcomm is in charge with an Octa-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-cores of processor here reaches a fast clock speed of 1.8GHz with 14nm FinFET process technology. Handling graphics is the Adreno 506 graphics processor.
There are two versions in terms of RAM and internal storage space, there’s a standard version with 4GB RAM for multitasking and 64GB storage space. While the cheaper variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space to accommodate files. Both storage spaces are upgradeable up to 256GB, as it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Camera
Explore your photography potentials with the dual rear 16MP + 5MP shooter. Both cameras boasts of f/1.7 and f/1.9 aperture respectively. There’s a LED flash as well for taking amazing photographs even in low light. Features on the camera includes phase detection autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and others. A much clearer 24MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture is available for selfies with a LED flash.
Battery
Powering the Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus (2018) is a 3500mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. However, even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take up to 2.5 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
